DeWitt Hughes

DeWitt  Hughes - has been a Board Member of Stage Aurora Theatrical Company Incorporated since 2009. Stage Aurora is a 501c3 corporation who mission is to enlighten the mind by way of the Arts through the African-American experience. DeWitt worked
closely with the Founder Darryl Ruben Hall to promote his vision to become an established artistic and educational institution in the city of Jacksonville and one of the leading African-American professional theatres in the State of Florida. Additionally, DeWitt is a Board Member on Raines High School National Alumni Association which is his High School Alma Mater and a member of “The 100 Hall of Fame Legacy Foundation”. Some of DeWitt’s other community and volunteer service endeavors include, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Jacksonville Humane Society, and A. Philip Randolph Career Center. DeWitt’s passion for youth sports also allowed him to coach football, basketball and baseball for over 11 years in the Police Athletic League, Jacksonville Parks and Recreation and Highlands Little League of Jacksonville.

The church has been a pivotal foundation in DeWitt’s life, and he accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at the age of nine. He attended Sunday School and Church regularly. As an adult, he loved working with kids and joined the sports ministry at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, where he currently is a member. He coached youth in flag football, basketball and baseball for 10 years starting practice and ending practice with Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. DeWitt himself, applies this bible verse to his everyday life and serves in the Men’s Ministry, Married Couples Ministry, Sunday School Ministry and Deacons Ministry. DeWitt has been married for 33years to Joni Hughes the love of his life. They have 4 beautiful children.
